One of the guests of Günebakan Literature, Lebanese Author Amin Maalouf was the guest of Yunus Emre Institute

Amin Maalouf, one of the guests of the Günebakan Literature Festival organized as part of the Diversity in Unity project run by the Hungarian Cultural Centre, was a guest of the programme “Rethinking, Reinterpreting” presented by Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, president of the Yunus Emre Institute. Prof Dr Ateş and Lebanese author Maalouf had a wide-ranging conversation covering literature, culture, the writing process, inter-communal communication, shared memory, colonialism and human rights, modernity and the dilemma between cultures. Thousands of people watched and listened to the fascinating conversation live-streamed in Turkish, Arabic and English from the social media accounts of the institute. Maalouf, mentioning that the effect of the spirit of time is very important in interpersonal partnerships, said, “We have relations with everyone living today. Let them live in France, Turkey, Korea, Japan, wherever they live in, we have much more things, commonalities, if we compared our relationship with our great father. ”
